One in a hundred thousand
Live 8
Hyde park was buzzing, thousands of people surrounded us as we waited for the doors to open. We had got to the park early and were sat down on the grass waiting, only about 10 metres from the main entrance. After a few hours of just sitting the main gates were opened and the everyone pushed to the front of the queues. Unfortunately we had over looked the basic equation of
long wait + blistering heat + bordum = an over full bladder
so our first port of call was the toilets. This meant that any chance we had of getting anywhere near the front was gone.
We eventually joined the back of the masses of people waiting for the show to start and found a decent place to sit down. As the start time drew nearer, more and more people scrabbled over us to get closer - it was great fun though!
The bands were phenomenal especially U2 and Pink Floyd (although I have to admit I only knew about one of the Floyds songs). After each act, we were able to watch what else was going on around the world on big screens.
Pete Doherty made a complete pr@t of himself on stage as he sang with Elton John, obviously completey off his head on something.
What a day & the best thing was it was completely free!
