A Beautiful World Tour

Take That Beautiful World Concert

Take That Beautiful World Concert - click to view full size

When we arrived Sophie Ellis Bextor was just finishing her set doing "Murder on The Dancefloor" and working the crowd ready for the band to come on.

The lights dropped and there was that magical moment where everyone stands up wondering what was going to happen next. A small group of musicians and a large quiffed opera singer's voice could be heard around the arena on the B stage (half way between the main stage and crowd) whilst our eyes were drawn to the big screen on the stage, playing a glorious animation of planets and stars. Four towers slowly rose from the stage where the four band members stood before us (to predictably deafening screams).

Our view wasn't great but the boys still looked as good (if not better) than what they did 8 years ago!

They opened the show with Reach, not that we could hear much of it as people were going barmy. Mark jumped off the stage and ran round the front shaking hands with everyone he could. Following that was It Only Takes a Minute with pole dancers.

Relight My Fire was electrifying and was personally one of the highlights of the show for me. It was a carnival of colour, sounds and tribal beats complete with flames and voodoo dolls. There were burners with huge licking flames and a light show which illuminated the arena with orange and reds. The Crazy interlude with Lloyd Wade was superb as was the dancing from the bald girl voodoo dancer.

Rule the World started on the main stage and then a walkway over the crowd appeared and the lads made their way to the B stage. A halo raised from the outer edge of the stage with ballerina's on. The boys sang a few more songs and just seemed to be having so much fun and partying along with the atmosphere with everyone on their feet at this stage.

They encored with Shine, complete with the string section, percussion, dancers... the lot!! And finally Pray, superb dancing and a great performance from the lads and it was all over.
The house lights came up and it was time to go home!!

The show was an amazing and never have I experienced screaming like it (and this was coming from the 40 something’s)! The O2 Arena is definitely the next new place for pop concerts - large but intimate at the same time.
