I'm a survivor.

Zeebrugge Ferry Disaster, The
Fuzz

Zeebrugge Ferry Disaster, The - click to view full size

I was 18 years old when my cousin and myself went for a day drip to Belgium with free tickets we had got from the "SUN" newspaper offer. I believe what happened that day changed my life forever. My cousin saved my life that fateful night but the memories never go away of what I witnessed. I will always be eternally grateful for being spared that evening. I still have all the newspaper cuttings from days after the disaster and video of TV programmes made of it and of me and my cousin Nigel on a Documentary made of welsh survivors for BBC Wales. I think about that awful night a lot if I'm honest, especially around this time of year on the anniversary of that fateful night. It's 23 years this Friday since the disaster but will always seem like it happened yesterday. I cant even imagine how the families feel who lost loved ones that night. RIP 193 - Never forgotten.
