More than 40 years after the Beatles were banned from playing in Israel. The Beatles were banned 43 years ago over fears they would corrupt the young.
Sir Paul McCartney took to the stage for a concert in Tel Aviv. McCartney was treated to pomp and speculation exceeding that of most major heads of state.

McCartney thrilled the crowd of 40,000 Israelis in this historic first ever concert in the country.
The crowd danced and waved banners as he vowed to give “the night they were waiting for”.

Muslim extremists had threatened Macca, 66, over the gig in Tel Aviv — but he insisted: “My message is a peaceful one.”
