XL Leisure Collapse

XL Leisure Collapse - click to view full size

XL Leisure, Britain’s third biggest package tour operator, plunged into administration on the morning of 12th September 2008, grounding all of its flights and leaving 85,000 passengers stranded overseas.

Customers who booked through travel agents were able to claim a refund. However, travellers who made bookings through the company’s website, xl.com, via xl call centres, did not qualify.

XL’s fleet of 21 aircraft were grounded at 1.00am in the morning, meaning holidaymakers in more than 50 destinations around the world were unable to return home.

Were you left stranded!?
