McLaren driver, Heikki Kovalainen scored his maiden F1 victory in the 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix. The Finn driver was fortunate to go past Felipe Massa of team Ferrari, who led the race for 67 laps. Massa suffered an unfortunate engine failure with three laps to go and eventually crawled past the chequered flag in 17th position.

Timo Glock of Toyota, another surprise podium finisher, drove a fantastic race to come in second. World champion Kimi Raikkonen in his Ferrari completed the podium standings to finish third.

2008 season leader Lewis Hamilton of McLaren, finished fifth to remain at the top of the points table, with 62 points, ahead of Raikkonen's 57 and Massa's 54.
