The 2007 champion Venus Williams retained her Wimbledon title with a straight sets win over her sister Serena.

This victory was Venus's fifth triumph on the grass courts in SW19 and, although the match was more tightly contested than last year's final, when Venus dropped only five games on her way to beating Marion Bartoli, the win will not have entirely silenced those who doubted the ferocity of the competition between the sisters.
