Thousands of people partied as the 2008 New Orleans Mardi Gras was celebrated. Drinking and dancing partiers watched the elaborately decorated floats as they passed near houses and property not yet fully recovered from the Hurricane in 2005, which flooded 80% of the city and killed more than 1,300 people.
