I ran my car over The Duke of Edinburgh's foot!
In 1982, at age 16, I was in the process of completing my Duke of Edinburgh's Silver Award. This is an award for young people that requires them to get off their butts and do things. Camping, sporting, hobbies, social projects, that sort of thing. There was an exhibition of entries completed by students taking the award at which the Duke was a visitor. I had a couple of models that I had built including an off road remote control car. Before the show opened, I had been driving this car around to demonstrate it's abilities (aka showing off) to the other exhibitors. However, when putting the car back on it's stand, I forgot to turn it off. The Duke (no, not John Wayne) came to visit our little group and whilst I explained which R/C car was mine, I accidentally drove it off the stand and straight over his foot. No one was very impressed, however his security guards did, at least, let me live.
